Common Signs of Hearing Loss

Hearing loss can be gradual so it can be difficult to detect. Often a person will not be aware that they have hearing loss. Family and friends are often the first to notice because the person with hearing loss is continually asking them to repeat what’s been said.

Hearing loss can occur for many reasons including ear infections or colds, childhood illness, head trauma, a build-up of ear wax, age, having worked in a loud environment, high blood pressure and more.

Signs that you may have hearing loss:

  • Voices are muffled.
  • It’s hard to hear what people are saying, especially with background noise.
  • Others comment that your television or radio is turned up loud.
  • Social situations or conversation become tiring because you’re concentrating on hearing what’s being said.
  • You may not hear birds or children’s voices well.

Sound familiar? If so, we recommend a hearing test with a Sears Hearing Care Professional. It’s free and takes only about an hour. We ask that you bring a family member or friend along for this visit.
